After School Activities

From 3:00 – 3:45 on Wednesday afternoons AAC students are welcome to take part in our extracurricular activities. On those days our AAC faculty offers a variety of sports and activities, as well as academic reinforcement for any student who needs a little extra help. The schedule of activities and classes will change each semester, offering a great variety throughout the school year.

Student Clubs & Organizations

Intramural sports – Teams within the AAC student body play casual and organized games of soccer.

AAC Soccer Teams – Organized school teams compete against other local American schools.

Student Council – Elected class officers make up the representative body, and the council officers are elected from the upper grades.  The council will organize charity events, school improvement projects, and social events.

Yearbook & Newspaper – Students are introduced to principles of design, layout and photography while helping to create a yearbook filled with memories of the school year. Students may elect to take part in publishing a student newspaper; they are active in interviewing members of the school community, taking photos of events, and writing articles.

AAC Ambassadors – Students who are nominated by their teachers may serve as AAC Ambassadors. These students assist the admissions office by giving tours of the school, assisting to host public events, and serving as mentors to new students.

Student Services

Counseling – The counselor is available each school day to help students and their families deal with any personal, educational, or social difficulties. Students may request a meeting with the school counselor or they may be referred to the counselor by school faculty or administration.

College Counselor – A college counselor will join the AAC team for the 2009-2010 school year. This counselor works with high school students to research options and plan properly for their eventual applications to colleges and universities.

Advisory Program – All students in Middle and High School are assigned to a teacher/advisor. The advisory program is designed as a support service to students in a guidance capacity. The advisory groups will cover topics of citizenship, character, academic performance, and balanced well-being.

Nurse – The school nurse is on duty every school day from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. AAC has a clinic equipped with medications and supplies for primary treatment in case of injury or illness. If students must bring prescription or over-the-counter medications to school, they must always submit them to the school nurse who will record and administer the medications according to the proper directions.

Canteen – The cafeteria plan is optional for students at AAC. Every day the students who participate are served a hot, nutritious meal.

Transport – AAC offers limited spaces on our transportation service to and from school for interested families.

Personalized Education Plans – Each student in Middle School and High School complete a yearly Personalized Education Plan with their teacher/advisor and the Dean of Student Affairs. The plan includes goal-setting exercises as well as any needed social and educational modifications or advancements.

Tutoring – Families who wish may enroll their students for additional instructional time through our paid tutoring program. The family will work with the school administration and the chosen tutor to design a specific program per student.

Academic Reinforcement – For students who have difficulties or need extra assistance in any subject, the school offers a daily academic reinforcement period from 3:05 p.m. – 3:50 p.m. This time can be requested by the professor or the student and is at no additional charge.

REACH – English classes are available on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings through our REACH Program for students who are making the transition into English education.
